MINI says that it is still mulling over whether not a MINI diesel will be offered to MINI lovers in America. Still smarting over the Revolutionary War and the shorter War of 1812, the British automaker is not willing to share all of its toys so readily.
Talking about this internal discussion taking place within, MINI’s head of U.S. product strategy, Patrick McKenna, said, “’Ello Mate. We still thinkin ‘bout ‘eadin the diesel over to you. It’s a proper sound idea, idn’t it?”
Industry observers say that MINI, in addition to being sore about the two wars, is concerned that a diesel MINI would steal market share from its gas-powered cousin, which in the end would hurt MINI more than it would help it. If the decision is made not to send the diesel across the pond, MINI speakers say that its next generation of gas-powered power-plants will be more fuel-efficient and powerful than ever.
